Formation Identity

STEPS nurtures empathic leaders, guiding core and participants to reflect on their purpose in the course and community. It empowers incoming ME students to take the reins on a new chapter of discovery with their peers and upperclassmen, while those working behind STEPS use their experiences to build the culture MEA calls home.

Who we are

Project Description

The Student Training, Enhancement, and Peer Support (STEPS) project is MEA’s flagship preparatory course for the BS ME program. STEPS showcases the multifaceted ME experience to incoming freshmen, shift-ins, and transferees—from the versatile curriculum to its vibrant community. Guided by upperclassmen facilitators, participants encounter engaging talks, modules, Amazing Race stations, and many more activities carefully crafted by MEAns.

Amazing Race (AR)

Participants, alongside their STEPS families, accomplish various activities and challenges that mirror the ME experience. Through the Amazing Race, participants gain exposure to an array of ME subjects and grow in their ability to work in a team.

STEPS Tambay

STEPS Tambay is an informal way for the M.E. community to gather to welcome freshies and shiftees through games, casual conversations, and snacks to share. Families also use this time to complete their bucket list and get to know each other better.

M.E. Talks

The M.E. Talks grant firsthand experiences of life in the program on academics, life outside studies, and future career paths from both students and alumni. These inspire and guide participants in their discernment and plans for the next 4 years.
